Harold's younger sister, Florence Amelia Edmondson, was known to everybody as Dolly and was the same age as Alice. Dolly was a bit like her brother Harold, very softly spoken and inoffensive and for part of her life was employed scrubbing office floors, and is remembered for speaking in malapropisms. If she saw an old lady or someone similar looking longingly into a shop window and Dolly thought they needed something to eat but could not afford it, she would give them some money.

Both Dolly and her husband, Adrian Morris Clapham , were members of the Salvation Army. Adrian was very well spoken and very well educated but had had a drink problem and had been helped by the Salvation Army. He was quite senior. He is reputed to have had an affair, running off to London but returning when his money ran out. Dolly died at Ormskirk Hospital.

Dolly and Adrian had eight children.
